Business on the Spot is sponsoring an educational event called 'Cocktails and Chickens' for the Backyard Chickens Alliance on May 6 from 4-7 p.m. at 2501 E Piedmont Road, Marietta.

It will be a family event aimed at exploring not only the right to own and raise chickens but all that entails healthy home living.

The potluck style event is free to the public, but people are asked to bring drinks, a vegetable dish and a non-vegetable dish enough to feed your party and share samples, and plastic ware and paper plates.

Attendees are also encouraged to bring something homemade from soap to rope, smudges to fudges and anything in between for a Silent Auction with proceeds going to the Backyard Chickens Alliance.

For the kids, there will be a Rooster Crowing contest.
