Cobb EMC Donates $10,000 for Cobb High Schools’ Habitat Build

Grant helps local students, faculty build a first home for one Smyrna resident

Cobb EMC recently awarded a $10,000 grant to the Northwest Metro Atlanta Habitat for Humanity. The funds supported five Cobb County high schools to build a house, a first for one Smyrna, Ga. resident.

“We’re proud to be able to contribute to such a worthy cause,” said Mark Justice, associate vice president of education and community relations at Cobb EMC. “And with our strong focus on education, we’re doubly glad our donation helped engage local students from the Cobb EMC service area.”

During the eight-week build, the homeowner, along with students and faculty from Campbell High School, Kennesaw Mountain High School, North Cobb High School, Pope High School and Walton High School, constructed the home under the direction of volunteer site project manager, Gary Boylan.

The homeowner was presented with a key at the formal dedication of her new home. The reception was immediately followed by a house tour.
