GDOL & Chatt Tech Recruit for Training Classes on Sept. 20

The Georgia Department of Labor’s (GDOL) Cobb-Cherokee Career Center will help Chattahoochee Technical College recruit unemployed workers and other students to enroll in short-term training classes for a variety of “in-demand” jobs in the health care field.  

The recruitment will be held Thursday, Sept. 20, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at the career center, located at 465 Big Shanty Rd. in Marietta.

The classes will be taught during the 2013 spring semester, beginning January 12.

Representatives of the college, including training instructors, admissions officers, and financial aid personnel, will be on hand to provide information about the training programs.  Classes include clinical laboratory technology, emergency medical services, medical assisting, nursing, occupational therapy assistant, and paramedical assistance.    

Graduates of the training programs will be qualified for entry-level positions in their field of study. Salary ranges are as follows: clinical laboratory technicians, $32,000-$37,000; emergency medical technicians, $24,000-$28,000; medical assistants, $24,000-$30,000; nurses, $38,000-$48,000; occupational therapy assistants, $38,000-$45,000; paramedical assistants, $30,000-$35,000.

Placement services will be available to the graduates.

Chattahoochee Tech, a unit of the Technical College System of Georgia, is located at 980 South Cobb Dr. in Marietta. It also has other campus locations serving Cherokee, Cobb, Bartow, Gilmer, Paulding, and Pickens counties.
