Isaiah Rogers wins Parks & Rec State Title in Shot Put

Isaiah Rogers, an eighth grader at Griffin Middle School, with a record-put became the 2012 State Champion in the shot put at the Georgia Recreation and Park Association Youth Track and Field state meet on May 6 in Augusta.
Rogers, 14, of Smyrna, had a record throw of 52 feet, which broke the district of 49 feet that stood since 2000.
It was Rogers’ fifth state championship and he has medaled multiple times at nationals.
Rogers, the son of Chris and Lisa Rogers, in completing his final year at Griffin Middle School where he also excels academically.
In addition to competing for the Smyrna Track Club, Rogers is an A/B student that is involved in The National Junior Beta club, the Robotics club, the Kindness to Others club, Chorus and Band.
His goal is to compete at the 2016 Olympics.
In the fall, Rogers plans to matriculate at Campbell High School.
