Lost pet, family dog

  • September 16, 2012

I was getting my Sunday paper from my yard when a man pulled up looking for his family pet.  It seems the fireworks Saturday night frightened her and she broke away from her harness.  She could still have part of her harness on. You could tell that the man loves his dog very much.  He showed me a photo of her and she is a smaller than normal bull mastif.  This was a rescue dog that is tan with a dark face and a visible slash mark that is healed on her side.  She has a chip so she can be identified if found.  I spoke with the wife by phone as of Sunday afternoon and she still hasn't been located.  They are devastated.  If you see this dog please call FRANK at 404-2915772.  They live off Ridge Road in the Smyrna/Vinings area.  Please help.  Thank you so much,  Karen Butcher

I live off Ridge Rd as well. I'm not sure what a bull mastiff, large or small, looks like. Can we see a picture of the dog? Meanwhile, I will keep my eyes open for a tan female dog w/ a black face. Praying for a safe return!

They're big dogs but are generally sweet natured. You should obviously approach any strange dog carefully but don't be too fearful of his size.

Karen, Thank you so much! We really appreciate all you have done. We had a call today that she was on Pine Hill Drive. Frank raced over there (around 6:30pm this evening) and with the help of a friendly person and his daughter, we still could not find her. She really is a sweet dog.... We are going back out again tomorrow morning to search in that vicinity. I will keep you updated. I am going to attempt posting her picture - please watch for it. Thanks to all who are keeping their eyes and ears open for us. Frank and Karina

I live off Powder Springs street and all of us in our neighborhood are keeping our eyes open. I have a friend who has a mastiff and we know what gentle giants they are. Rooting for you guys to find her.

I think you should get a group of volunteers together and each walk one of the streets looking for Athena.
