Arrest made in deadly hit-and-run
Jeffrey Brookshire is facing charges of vehicular manslaughter and hit-and-run in connection with the accident that killed Tony Kuykendall on Saturday night.
Jeffrey Brookshire of Marietta turned himself in to Smyrna Police authorities Monday in connection with the Saturday night hit-and-run collision that killed Tony Kuykendall.
Brookshire, 31, is facing charges of vehicular manslaughter, hit-and-run and potentially more charges according to Smyrna Police Officer Mike Smith.
The 48-year-old Kuykendall was walking along Old Concord Road near South Cobb Drive with his 14-year-old son on Saturday night. According to the Smyrna Police, around 7 p.m. Kuykendall was struck from behind by a pick-up truck driven by Brookshire.
A father of four children, the Paulding County resident later died at Kennestone Hospital. The boy was not harmed.
Kuykendall reportedly was unemployed and didn’t have insurance. A fund in his name has been set up and donations can be made at any Bank of America.
