Camps Keep Your Kids Engaged, Active and Learning

In Smyrna-Vinings and Atlanta, summer camp options abound. Here are a few local choices. For more ideas, see www.mysummercamps.com.

 

Imagine That and Future Tech camps are right in our own neighborhood at St. Benedict’s Day School on Atlanta Road. Children ages 3-14 (divided into age-appropriate groups) get “blinded with science’’ with Science, Technology and Robotics combination classes.

Budding musicians will swoon over Camp Jam, the Ultimate Rock and Roll Camp, where the slogan is “No Canoes. Lots of Rock.” Day and overnight camps in Atlanta are designed for aspiring music types and conducted by professional musicians. Learn all about the rock and roll business while reaching for your potential. 

Navigating Middle School’s challenges isn’t easy and that’s why Girl Talk Camps focus on girls in 6th-8th grade. Girls learn from mentors and community leaders, do community service projects. Weeklong sessions including one sleepover are available in Sandy Springs, Buckhead, and Midtown.

The Atlanta Children's Theatre - Camp Stardust is a performance camp geared toward Broadway-bound singers, dancers and performers ages 6-11. Kids learn about drama, choreography, music, props and the teamwork performing involves. The week’s grand finale is a show for family and friends. Location is in Sandy Springs.

Nike Golf Camp at Legacy Golf Links in Smyrna. Players have a low teacher/class ratio and the option of full or half-day camp. Campers are instructed on all aspects of the camp, from fundamentals to putting, chipping, bunker play and full-swing.
