Hill Given Strong Support in District 6 State Senate Race

Hill appears to have beaten out other Republican contenders Drew Ellenburg and Josh Belinfante of Sandy Springs, to face Democrat Doug Stoner in the general election.

Hunter Hill appears to have won the Republican nomination for the State Senate District 6 seat.

Hill, a Smyrna businessman, beat out other Republican candidates Josh Belinfante and Drew Ellenburg and will now face Democratic incumbent Doug Stoner of Smyrna in the general election.

With 30 of 30 precincts reporting, Hill took 52.26-percent of 8956 total votes.

A graduate of West Point and a former football and baseball standout at Westminster, Hill served three tours in Afghanistan and Iraq as an Airborne Ranger, his campaign said. Hill received two Bronze Stars, the Meritorious Service Medal and two Army Commendation Medals.

After his retirement from the Army, Hill began a real estate career, and is now director of security for SecurAmerica. He is married to the former Shannan Reese. They have a son, Hunter Bradley Hill Jr., and a newborn daughter, Annie Christine. Hill and his family attend the Church of the Apostles in Buckhead.

Successful service in the military doesn't always translate into political success but it can indicate a great deal about someone's character and their propensity to place service above self. In time of war in Iraq and again in Afghanistan, Hunter certainly has demonstrated the kind of character and the leadership skills to suggest he will be a great State Senator. I am pleased to support his candidacy and strongly encourage my Sandy Springs neighbors to do what you can as well to support his candidacy.
