Bi-lingual supervisors? Are they hiring people who don't speak English? I have applied for at least 20 jobs there and haven't been called. I'm very confused by this.

Dear Pam J,
In this world and society you must be open for all diversity, I am originally from the Miami,Florida area and back in the 70's you had to take a foreign language to graduate high school, and Miami-Dade county is the only county in USA were you have to be bilingual to get a job,you cannot even get a job at McDonald's without speaking Spanish, which Spanish is the easiest language to understand, so with all the Hispanic population here as in California, Florida, and Texas you must adapt to the current trends, even certain government agencies offer it free to their employees. So, this is no longer to your taste but what is required of you to work or to earn a living, Thank God as a paralegal I can at least communicate with the defendants in criminal proceedings.

Pam,
another thing you obviously do not shop at home improvement stores because if you did you would see most of the blue-collar workers are Spanish

HERE IS THE SECRET FOR APPLYING FOR AVJOB AT THE HOME DEPOT: Make sure your résumé and experience is what the job description is asking for.
You need to have experience that the they are looking for.
The Recruiter will not try to match your skills with "A Job".
If you applied for 20 different jobs - did you submit 20 different resumes?
Each resume you submit should show your qualifications and skills that are "specific to the job you applied for"
Simply having one resume, and then going online clicking each job you are interested in, will get you NO WHERE.

This hint applies to any job you apply for. The Résumé MUST have keywords - skills they are looking for. YOU NEED A RÉSUMÉ that is specific for each job you are looking for. READ THE JOB DESCRIPTION...
make sure the KEYWORDS and Task are discussed in the top half of the page.
If the recruiter needs to read past the half way mark on your résumé to determine you have experience doing the job they are trying to fill --- they will move on.

Also, DO NOT include - your marital status, your political affiliation, number of kids, what church you go to.
If you have experience doing this specific job 15 years ago. DON'T APPLY.
The Internet changed how we all do business, and you probably forgot everything you knew any way.
Lastly, DO NOT APPLY for jobs in service industries if you are not a nice, caring, patient person. NO ONE LIKES people who are not customer friendly.
