Make Time For Afternoon Tea

The TeaFuse Tea House in Vinings Jubilee opened less than a year ago and is now bubbling and brewing seven days a week with happy customers.

Owner and native New Yorker Kendall Harper was never much of a coffee drinker growing up. It was while in college - and with some influence from her family from Bermuda - that Harper began developing her love for herbal teas. 

The concept of “Afternoon Tea” has British Empire influences and dates to the mid-1600s when the Queen of England declared she would like to have a little snack before her dinner. She was served tea with little sandwiches, and soon friends were invited to join for tea parties.

Kendall began catering at tea parties about four years ago and her more than satisfied clientele grew so that she needed her own facility. The café in Vinings serves 75 varieties of loose leaf teas, coffee, bubble tea, chai latte and lots of snacks.

“The flavor of loose tea is better and more versatile,” said Harper, who also blends her own flavors. All dine-in orders are French-pressed. “Just like wine, tea has its own spectrum of flavors, from full bodied to light and citrusy,” she added.

Some of the most popular teas at this contemporary and comfy tea house in the heart of Vinings are Blue Lady (black), Raspberry Rose (herb), Tangerine (white), Tuscany Pear (rooibos) and Pomegranate Hibiscus (green). The teas are sourced from vendors all around the world, including Africa, Asia and South America.

Additionally, TeaFuse serves breakfast, lunch and snacks. Their menu lists soups, sandwiches, scones, cakes, croissants, cinnamon rolls and much more and mostly bite sized. There are also a variety of waffles whipped up on the weekends.

The tea house is popular with residents and area businesses alike as it caters for both social and business events. If you are planning an event such as a bridal shower or a kid’s party, TeaFuse can accommodate up to 24 people with advance reservations.

Free Wi-Fi attracts a younger crowd sipping on a bubble tea while studying, and it’s open until 9 p.m. on weekends for those craving an after dinner dessert and tea. The last Friday of the month even features an open mic night.
