RaceTrac of Future Comes to Smyrna

A ribbon cutting ceremony will be held at the new Spring Road location Friday morning.

It's been almost 10 months since RaceTrac opened its first new prototype station in Acworth in January. The new design, referred to as RT6K or "RaceTrac of the future" by the Smyrna-based company, makes its way to Smyrna this week.

The new station at 2550 Spring Road will be RaceTrac's 70th store in Georgia and ninth RT6K.

The new store design features 6,000 square feet of space filled with upgrades including indoor and outdoor seating, 10 Swirl World frozen yogurt flavors with more than 40 toppings, a beer cave with 50 plus brands, freshly-brewed teas, frozen beverages and free wireless internet."

A ribbon cutting ceremony will be held this Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the Spring Road location. Smyrna city officials including Mayor Max Bacon, community members and RaceTrac representatives will be present at the event.

This place is going to bring the level UP a bit in Smyrna...but I've got to tell you the Yogurt ain't there yet. It's drippy and soft compared to the E/W Connector & S Cobb Dr RaceTrac. The interior lighting seems to be off a bit too!

I'm afraid I'm going to have to disagree with you.
This is a gas station. Which appears at first glance more like the Cirque du Soleil.
This isn't bringing status to the area, nor REAL jobs either.
People will not drive from other cities to shop there. So I cannot see where this is anything more than a filler for the sites that were there before.
Eventually, I believe the residents of that area will come to bemoan it, just as they've done to QT. In fact, since it sits in thier "backyards" I expect the realization to come sooner than later.
All that glitters is not gold, sir.

This isn't quality development. It's a new gas station for Smyrna.

We recently spent a day along the Atlanta Beltline. That's quality development and quality of life. Didn't see a gas station.

LOVE the Beltline...we could use more of that in the SMY. And I applaud your disagreement, yesterday I sat and watch nearly 40 people stop and get a frozen yogurt an this new local business. It's clearly much more than a place to purchase dinosaur fuel =) and it's positioned strategically along a cycle route that connects to the Silver Comet Trail. OG, I'd like to hear your definition of a REAL job. God knows we need a few more of those in the area.
