Salon Deco to Reach Celebrity Status Tonight

The Vinings salon is being featured tonight on Bravo's Tabatha's Salon Takeover at 10 p.m. The staff is celebrating with a viewing party at Meehan's Pub, which will also include a raffle to benefit breast cancer research.

The staff of Vinings’ own were proudly celebrating on Tuesday afternoon their upcoming appearance on the Bravo network’s reality show “Tabatha’s Salon Takeover."

While appearing on a popular television show is certainly cause for excitement, getting to this point wasn’t easy for owner Kim Krohn and her team.

For those who might not know, “Tabatha’s Salon Takeover” features celebrity hair stylist Tabatha Coffey giving struggling salons the major push they need to get back on track. Now in its fourth season, Salon Deco, located at 2810 Paces Ferry Road, will be featured in the episode airing tonight at 10 p.m.

Krohn and her staff were marking the special occassion all day at the salon, offering up special deals for clients. Tonight, they will be holding a viewing party next door at starting at 7 p.m.

In addition to the party, raffles will be held to raise money for breast cancer research. Being involved in the community and supporting worthy causes is important to Krohn. Her salon has helped raise money for many local charities and been instrumental in getting other local businesses involved in the process.

Raffle items include: complimentary highlights and haircut from Salon Deco; dinner for two and a bottle of wine from Meehan's; one-month free tanning (including spray tans) at ; two months free at Curves; $50 Oni Fitness Studio gift card; $50 gift card to ; spa manicure and pedicure at ; free bottle of wine from T&R Liquor; two $25 gift cards to ; and a $25 gift card to .

"We're doing 20 percent off our clients, friends and family and hopefully all the new people that we meet. They already have $5 martini specials. It's going to be a good time," Krohn said.

"The party is going to be fun just because everyone gets to watch our reaction as we watch it for the first time. We've already seen probably three or four different commercials of us and have laughed about it, at least me."

As far as spilling details about the show itself, Krohn is going to let people see for themselves.

"I really can't say anything. I don't even know what I can and can't say yet. I can't give the world my story yet."

While Krohn was understandably tight-lipped about what viewers could expect from tonight’s show, the description offered up on Bravo’s website promises high-drama about an owner and staff that have lost their way and are in desperate need of direction.

“When Tabatha tries to show Kim that she needs to be present because actions speak louder than words, Kim is resistant to stepping up. Will Tabatha be able to give Kim and her husband a huge wake-up call they need to save the salon and hopefully their home?" the description reads.

Alex Ficco, stylist with Salon Deco said their involvement with the show started with a cold call last January from producers looking for salons in the Atlanta area to feature. After an extensive process involving numerous interviews about the dynamics of the salon and the backgrounds of the stylists, Salon Deco was chosen.

“One of the times they came back they brought cameras and basically filmed for over a week for an hour show,” Ficco said.

Salon Deco first opened its doors in 2002 and Krohn and her staff pride themselves on offering salon services with a personalized touch.
