Shake Your Tail Feather on National Chicken Dance Day
One Smyrna Chick-Fil-A is giving away free sandwiches to commemorate everyone's favorite dance.
It’s National Chicken Dance Day! A favorite at weddings and bar mitzvahs, the chicken dance was written by Swiss accordion player Werner Thomas in the 1950s. Wikipedia says it became popular as a dance in the 1980s when it was introduced at Oktoberfest in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
What better way to celebrate National Chicken Dance Day than by dancing for free lunch? The Chick-Fil-A located on South Cobb Drive near Interstate 285 will give away chicken sandwiches at the top of each hour to the first three customers who perform the chicken dance.
“We’re all about doing new things and trying new things,” said Ben Creighton, Chick-Fil-A’s manger. “We’re excited about bringing the opportunity to customers. We love giving away food. It’s just part of who are and we love being involved in the community. We thought this would be a good opportunity to show some dance moves and get some free chicken.”
One regular Chick-Fil-A customer was more than happy to strut his stuff. Bryan Purde said he eats at the South Cobb Drive restaurant several times a week. Check out the video, it’s a treat.
