Smyrna Man Accused of Molestation

The teen is his girlfriend's 14-year-old daughter.

A 56-year-old Smyrna man is accused of molesting his girlfriend's 14-year-old daughter near Marietta.

The suspect, identified in a Cobb County criminal warrant as David Uriyah Hardy, was living with his girlfriend and her daughter at the time of the alleged incident, said Officer Mike Bowman, spokesman for the Cobb County Police Department.

Authorities learned about the alleged abuse, which occurred around 9 p.m. Thursday at a residence in the 1500 block of Crider Road, when the teen's mother called 911, Bowman said. The teen was bruised, according to the results of a medical examination.

Hardy was arrested Saturday afternoon on five charges, including three counts of child molestation, one count of aggravated child molestation and one count of aggravated sexual battery. All are felony offenses.

Hardy is in the Cobb County Adult Detention Center without bond.
