Smyrna Mother Charged with Murder of Severely Malnourished Girl

Other children also found in the home were subsequently released into the custody of Department of Family and Children Services.

Cobb Police arrested and charged a Smyrna mother with murder and first-degree cruelty with children on Friday after finding a dead severely malnourished girl at her home.

At 1:30 p.m., Precinct 2 officers responded to a 911 call about an unresponsive girl at a home on Concord Road. When the officers arrived on the scene, they found the body of a dead girl, whose age has not yet been released.

Other children found at the home were in "good condition" and released to the custody of the Department of Family and Children Services, according to Cobb Police, who have not yet released the number of other children at the home.

Ebony Berry, 38, is currently being held without bond at the Cobb County Jail.
