Smyrna St. Patrick's Day Festival Wins Readers' Choice

Your voices were heard and Smyrna St. Patrick's Day Festival in Market Village was named the best place to party on St. Paddy's.

The votes are in and Smyrna-Vinings Patch readers’ favorite St. Paddy’s party is the Smyrna St. Patrick’s Day Festival at Market Village. The Irish festival earned 62 percent of the votes in our Readers’ Choice poll.

St. Patrick’s Day falls on a Saturday this year, which means a daylong festival with live music by Patrick Scott, Homefront and Andrew Black and Pine City. There will be carnival rides for the kids and March Madness on the tube at Atkins Park Tavern. Don’t miss Smyrna Mayor Max Bacon dye the Market Village fountain green in honor of the day’s festivities at 6 p.m. Food is available for purchase from Atkins Park Tavern, Zucca Pizzeria and other Market Village eateries.

Tickets to the event can be purchased for $10 online or at the festival entrance for $15 the day of the event. Proceeds from the festival benefit Mustard Seed Communities. Strollers, backpacks and coolers aren’t allowed in the festival, but dogs are welcome. Smyrna-Vinings Patch staff will be at the event sporting festive green Patch t-shirts. Come say hello and you might end up in the Smyrna-Vinings Patch St. Patrick’s Day slideshow.

Next week’s Readers’ Choice contest asks readers to pick their favorite place to dine outdoors. Be ready with votes and comments in support of your favorite place to dine al fresco Monday.
