The Market Village restaurant opens Wednesday, Sept. 5.
Update Sept. 5: The Corner Taqueria will not be open for lunch this week, but will instead open for dinner at 5 p.m.
"Yes we were trying to get open for lunch this week but some events occurred with staff," owners said via Twitter.
Original Post Sept. 4: Market Village’s newest restaurant is set to open its doors Wednesday, Sept. 5.
The Corner Taqueria is the newest concept from the owners of Zucca Bar and Pizzeria and Vintage Tavern. It opens Wednesday in the restaurant space formerly home to The Village Café, which closed its doors at the end of 2011.
According to its website, The Corner Taqueria offers gourmet tacos served a la carte, fresh salsa, craft beer and more than 40 different types of tequila.
Owners originally advertised that the restaurant would open in spring 2012 in time for Cinco de Mayo. Contractors have worked through the summer to remodel the space, which now includes an enclosed patio, larger bar and other renovations.
According to its Facebook page, the restaurant will open its doors at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Food will be served until 10 p.m. and the bar will serve until midnight or later.

Why did the city council approve a tequila bar with a garage door? Next we will have bars setting up in the front yards of residential units.
