The Week Ahead in Smyrna-Vinings
See what's on the week's agenda including a City Council meeting and a gala.
It may be a short week, but that doesn’t mean it’s any less hectic. Let’s see what’s coming up for the shortened week ahead.
On Tuesday Cobb County Commission Chairman Tim Lee speaks at the Vinings Business Association's monthly meeting. The Chairman recently earned the Republican Party’s nomination as Chairman for a second term. Since no Democrat sought the office, Lee is the default winner.
However, there is a write-in candidate seeking to garner support. East Cobb resident Craig Harfoot is asking for votes on the Nov. 6 ballot.
But for now, Lee is still Chairman. He’ll speak to the VBA at 11:30 a.m. at Social Vinings. Members pay $15 and register online. Non-members pay $20 at the door.
The Smyrna City Council normally meets the first and third Monday of each month, but because of Labor Day the body will meet Tuesday, Sept. 4. At this posting administrators had not published the agenda on the city’s website. Check back with Smyrna-Vinings Patch later today to see what will be discussed at the meeting.
Meetings are televised live on Charter Channel 19. Replays of Council meetings air the second and fourth Thursday of the month on Channel 23 at 7 p.m. See the TV23 section at www.cobbcounty.org for a complete rebroadcast schedule.
After an action-packed week wind down at the Smyrna Heroes Gala. The gala gets underway Saturday, Sept. 8 at 7 p.m. with food, drinks, and live music from Kingsized and Wesley Cook. Tickets are $50 and benefit the Smyrna Public Safety Foundation in its work to support Smyrna’s public safety officers both on the job and in times of need. Tickets can be purchased online.
