The Week Ahead in Smyrna-Vinings

See what's up in the week ahead including a City Council meeting and a meeting for a new private school in South Cobb.

It's quiet for the week of Fourth of July in Smyrna-Vinings. Here’s a look at what’s coming up in the week ahead.

Monday

Smyrna Academy of Excellence may have been denied a charter at last Thursday’s Cobb County Board of Education meeting, but that won’t stop its supporters from opening a school. Board members plan to open as a private K-12 school and will hold an informational meeting Monday at 6 p.m. at Taylor Brawner Park in Smyrna.

Smyrna City Council meets tonight at 7:30 p.m. at City Hall. There’s a light agenda on tap and you can watch the meeting live on TV19, the Cobb County government access channel.

Tuesday

Vinings Business Association holds its monthly meeting Tuesday, July 3. This month it’s all about the businesses with a member spotlight. The meeting begins at 11:30 a.m. and admission is $15 for members and $20 for non-members.

Wednesday

There’s all kind of Fourth of July fun planned for Cobb County including barbecues, parades and fireworks. Check out our event planner for more details
