Visions for Vacancies: Blockbuster Video

What business do you think should open in the space formerly occupied by Blockbuster on Spring Road?

Visions for Vacancies is Smyrna-Vinings Patch's weekly feature that looks at a vacant building and asks readers what they'd like to see there. This is your chance to dream big. If it were up to you, what would you open there?

Blockbuster video stores are a dying breed in Smyrna-Vinings. The South Cobb Drive store is in the process of closing now, but today we’re turning our attention to the site of its former sister store across town. The Blockbuster at 2350 Spring Road in Plantation Pointe shopping center closed its doors earlier this year and has yet to find a new tenant.

The shopping center is anchored by Cobb International Farmers Market and other businesses nearby include Khuan’s Hair Design, U.S. Café Express and Smyrna Liquors. If zoning issues and cost were no obstacle, what would you open in the space?

What do you think belongs in the retail space formerly home to Blockbuster? Tell us in the comments.

Maybe a bakery like the Brazilian Bakery on Powers Ferry. There is not a place (that I know of) to buy fresh baked bread in that Spring Rd corridor. I know we have lots of drug stores, but it seems like a good drugstore location. I am surprised that hasn't been leased faster because there is a lot of traffic through that shopping center. (Because the international market is awesome.)

Trader Joes or Whole Foods! - or maybe they should go on the corner of Paces Ferry and Atlanta Road- where the round building is located. It would be a great grocer to have here, and I know many that mention how much they want a WF or TJ here.

if not Trader Joes or Whole Foods- I would love to see The Farmers Market, expand- take over the whole lot- like the Dekalb Farmers market- really creating a destination- then some seating outfront- for folks to enjoy their purchases- and lunches or a coffee and mexican pastries!

I agree, a Minute Clinic. Flu shots, Student Health Forms etc. An alternative to an Emergency Room for minor injuries and ailments.

I'm with Maggie regarding a Trader Joes. Not many stores have a big selection on organic foods. Publix focuses on fruits/vegetables. Kroger on Atlanta Rd has a small section were I can find some organic or wholesome food/snack items for the kids, but not enough.
