Woman Injured in Motorcycle Accident Recovering
Doctors say it will take Megan Smith, 24, of Powder Springs up to a year to fully recover from her injuries.
The woman seriously injured in a motorcycle accident earlier this month on Windy Hill Road is on the road to recovery.
Megan Smith, 24, of Powder Springs was traveling westbound on Windy Hill Road near the intersection of Atlanta Road on her Suzuki sport bike when the driver of a Toyota Corolla began turning into a parking lot. Smith’s motorcycle clipped the vehicle’s bumper, which sent her into a 60-foot rollover, investigators said. Smyrna police said the driver of the Corolla was cited for failing to yield while turning left.
Smith’s mother, Kay Peterson, reported in a comment on this website that she underwent surgery June 7 to repair fractures in her right leg and a dislocated ankle. In an email, Peterson said it will be another 10 weeks before her daughter can put weight on her leg and doctors estimate it will be another six months to a year before she fully recovers.
