Woodland Brook Drive Closes June 18
The street will be closed for two months this summer for drainage improvements.
Vinings residents have one more week before Woodland Brook Drive closes for the summer. Bryan Ricks, Cobb County’s District 2 engineer reported that the street will close Monday, June 18 for drainage improvements.
Contractors will work this summer to remove the dual 48-inch pipes that run beneath Woodland Brook and replace them with a 25-foot by 6.5-foot bottomless arch culvert.
While the roadway is closed, local traffic can use Randall Farm Road as a detour. Ricks indicated at an earlier informational meeting about the road closure that there will be increased police presence in the area to prevent speeding.
Drivers who normally pass through Vinings via Woodland Brook Drive can use this detour route:
Southbound Woodland Brook Drive:
North and then west on Paces Ferry Road to Cumberland Parkway
South on Cumberland Parkway to Beech Haven Trail/Log Cabin Drive
South and then east on Beech Haven Trail/Log Cabin Drive to Woodland Brook Drive
Northbound Woodland Brook Drive:
West and then north on Log Cabin/Beech Haven Trail to Cumberland Parkway
North on Cumberland Parkway to Paces Ferry Road
East and then south on Paces Ferry Road to Woodland Brook Drive
District 2 Commissioner Bob Ott advised residents to sign up for e-updates at his website, which are emailed each week and will notify residents about the project’s progress. Ricks said the roadway should open again Sunday, July 29.
