Celebrate Black History Month at Smyrna Public Library.

The Smyrna Public Library will hold two events for children, families, and adults in celebration of Black History Month.

On Saturday, Feb. 23 from 11 a.m.-noon, the library will host a storytelling program for children and families. The Cobb Cluster of the Southern Order of Storytellers, members of the Kuumba Storytellers, and the youth Tattle Tales group will be featured. 

On Sunday, Feb. 24 from 2-4 p.m., the library will offer a special Black History Month program for adults featuring two speakers, Robin Washington Banks and Charles Black. This program sponsored by the Friends of the Smyrna Library, is open to the public and will offer light refreshments.

The Smyrna Public Library prides itself on being the oldest "city operated" library in the state of Georgia. Since its opening in 1936, the Smyrna Library has a reference collection that has grown to over 10,000 volumes with a major emphasis on military history and genealogy. In addition to hardcover books, the library also has material available on CD, videotape and DVD. Other special features at the Smyrna Library include free Internet wi-fi access, voter registration and a job seekers page.
