DESCRIPTION:Why are rain gardens important?&nbsp\; Rainwater that goes in
to storm drains discharges directly into rivers\, lakes or streams. This
sudden introduction of large volumes of stormwater erodes stream banks
and stream beds and increases flooding risks. Rain gardens protect local
waterways by decreasing the volume of runoff entering surface waters du
ring rain events. Rain gardens provide a unique landscape feature.\nThe
plants in the rain garden are both beautiful and helpful. They add color
and interest to the landscape. Depending on the type of vegetation\, th
e rain garden can also serve as habitat for butterflies\, birds and othe
r wildlife. Come learn more about the garden and get your hands dirty!\n
Every Wednesday from&nbsp\;9:00am to 11:00am\, we will explore and maint
ain the rain garden at the Cobb County Water Quality Lab.
