Middle School Seeks Volunteers For Penny Wars

The battle begins next week and will last until early February.

A middle school in the Smyrna area is seeking volunteers for a fun competition that will help raise funds for dances, student enrichment, and teacher hospitality.

Griffin Middle School's "Penny Wars" begin on Tuesday Jan. 21, and will run until Feb. 4. Each school day between 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., students on their lunch break will be able to drop pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters, and bills into their class bucket or buckets belonging to other classes.

Only pennies give positive points, so dump those silver coins and paper bills into the other buckets to keep your class on top!

At the end of the competition, the team with the highest score will win a treat.

Griffin Middle School's PTSA is looking for volunteers to help facilitate the Penny Wars, and there are two ways you can let them know that you want in.

First, you can sign up on the event's VolunteerSpot page with your e-mail address. Another way to get on board is to send an e-mail to event organizer Dawn McLoughlin at johndawn1@charter.net.
