Obesity Discussion in Smyrna Thursday Evening

The Atlanta Medical Center will hold a discussion on morbid obesity and potential treatment options at the DoubleTree Suites by Hilton Hotel near the Galleria Mall on Thursday at 6 p.m.

Dr. Miguel del Mazo, a laparoscopic and bariatric surgery specialist at Atlanta Medical Center will discuss surgery options such as laparoscopic adjustable bands, laparascopic gastric sleeve resection, and laparascopic gastric bypass. Del Mazo will also discuss the risks and benefits of each procedure.

Further afield, the Atlanta Medical Center will host a class on healthy cooking and eating geared towards people who have undergone bariatric surgery on the third Saturday of every month from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the center's Atlanta location.

Chef Alison White will demonstrate and allow students to cook their own healthy meals. Students will be able to bring these meals home with them after the class is over.
