School News You Can Use This Wednesday

From report cards to story time in the media center, Smyrna's schools are hosting tons of fun family events in the next few days.

  • Russell Elementary School's International Night is coming up on Thursday, Nov. 7. The festivities kick off at 1 p.m. with a parade featuring the traditional dress of the countries the Russell student body comes from, and will be followed from 6 to 8 p.m. by the "Taste of Russell," which will feature dishes popular across the globe. Please fill out the attached Heritage forms to participate in the fun.
  • Nickajack Elementary School is kicking off its "Thanks for Giving" food drive on Wednesday, Nov. 6. The drive will run until Saturday, Nov. 16. Students and parents are encouraged to bring canned and nonperishable food items to the school's front lobby.
  • Norton Park Elementary is assembling a Parent Action Team that will be responsible for brainstorming ideas for the Spring Parent Symposium and giving input on a local educational agency improvement program. The first meeting will be held at Rose Garden on Thursday, Nov. 14 at 6:30 p.m. To get involved with the Team, contact Fran White at fran.white@cobbk12.org.
  • Smyrna Elementary School will be holding a parent orientation for the state-of-the-art media center from 1 to 1:45 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 8. The school is also planning Thanksgiving lunches for Tuesday and Wednesday Nov. 12-13.
  • The King Spring Elementary PTA is holding a general meeting on Thursday, Nov. 7 at 6:30 p.m. during which the veterans and active duty military family members of King Springs students will be honored. Additionally, King Springs families are invited to come to the media center in their pajamas on Tuesday, Nov. 12 at 6:45 p.m. for Family Night in the Media Center. The event will feature hot chocolate, cookies, and storybook reading from actress Sarah Cave.
  • Attention parents of Campbell High School students! Progress reports for Cobb County high school students are coming home Friday, Nov. 8. Here's to hoping you see nothing but straight A's!
