Atlanta Speech School Offers Free Hearing and Speech Screenings

Although more than 5 million children in the United States have a speech, language or hearing disorder, parents are often uninformed and unsure about what to do when they suspect their child may have a communication disorder. To assist parents in detecting potential problems, the Atlanta Speech School is offering free hearing and speech screenings for children by appointment only on Saturday, April 12 from 9:00 am to noon as part of Better Hearing and Speech Month.

The Atlanta Speech School’s nationally and state certified speech-language pathologists will provide screenings for children three years and older and provide written documentation of the screening results, including recommendations for further evaluations if needed. Early detection and intervention of communication disorders is essential to help ensure that they do not seriously affect a child's ability to learn, socialize with others, and be successful in school. Representatives from the Atlanta Speech School’s educational and clinical programs will be available to answer questions.

Through these screenings, the School hopes to raise awareness about communication disorders and promote treatment that improves the quality of life for those who experience these problems. These free screenings are available by appointment only. To schedule an appointment, contact Jennifer Buck-Rudolph at jbuck@atlantaspeechschool.org or 404-233-5332.
