A look at the week ahead in Smyrna-Vinings

Christmas parties, trivia, concerts and school spirit abound this week in our Patch.

Tuesday, Dec. 13 Smyrna Golden "K" Kiwanis Club meets at 10 a.m. at the  This week's speaker is William Perry, executive director of Georgia Common Cause, who will speak about how to promote good and viable government.

Tuesday night Alice Cooper brings his “No More Mr. Nice Guy” tour to . The show starts at 8 p.m. and tickets are $37 to $47 plus fees and can be purchased through Ticketmaster.

meets at noon Wednesday, Dec. 14 at . This week's speaker is Loran Smith, one of the legendary voices of Georgia football.

Promote Smyrna’s local music scene Wednesday at . Participants are generally allowed to perform two songs or poems; three if there are few performers scheduled. Performers are only allowed to showcase original work. Covers aren’t allowed. Open Mic Night kicks off at 8 p.m.

Wednesday's Family Night at features a performance by a young rising star Morgan Geisler. This 13-year-old pop country musician was recently signed by Disney. The show starts at 6 p.m.

Several restaurants around town host team trivia this Wednesday. begins at 8 p.m. and at at 8:30 p.m. Trivia at is an all-day affair.

Thursday, Dec. 15 at 6 p.m. is Tavern. Show some Spartan spirit by eating dinner at Varner’s and they’ll donate a portion of the evening’s proceeds to the school. 

Thursday also marks the one-year-anniversary of the opening of . Watch the Falcons take on Jaguars and enjoy select food and drinks free from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Friday Atlanta-based musician Nanyana Summer rocks with her performance beginning at 8 p.m. Admission is free. 

Don your tackiest apparel for at 8:30 p.m. Santa offers up drink specials and cash prizes for the three tackiest sweaters.

Don't put your tacky sweater away just yet. Saturday is 's First Ugly Sweater Run. Meet in the Twisted Taco parking lot with your ugliest sweater at 10 a.m. for a two-mile run down the Silver Comet Trail. Participation is free and is limited to the first 100 runners who bring an unwrapped toy valued at $10 for donation to Toys for Tots. Twisted Taco serves up brunch for the runners after the race.
