UPDATE: A Royal Wedding in Smyrna?

Mystery marriage proposal has locals awaiting Thursday's expected answer.

UPDATE 6/9/11 4:20 p.m.: Well, somewhere, the J. Geils Band song "Love Stinks'' was playing in earnest as very little happened at 3 p.m. on Thursday June 9 at the designated proposal location. Folks from nearby businesses peeked out to see who would show and to learn of the would-be bride's answer. But neither the "princess'' nor the man who loves her appeared, leaving us all wondering, "will she or won't she?'' Again, stay tuned ...

 

Almost six weeks ago, Westminster Abbey in London was the scene of a fairytale wedding as Kate Middleton and Prince William said their “I do's” in becomimg the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

And while almost 23 million viwers in the United States watched the coverage of the future King of England taking his bride, one local unknown fella is merely hoping that his princess will show up tomorrow at 3 p.m. near the intersection of South Atlanta Road and Creatwood Trail.

That is where a sign, adorned with a pair of red heart balloons, has recently appeared asking “Princess Sabrina Fisher’’ for her hand in marriage. She is requested to provide her answer Thursday afternoon near the spot of the proposal.

Workers at the nearby say the sign popped a few days ago, but little else is known about the romantic gesture. But regardles, during these stuffy hot days of early June, it’s good to know that love is definitely in the air. Stay tuned …
