Camera crews ready to roll locally again

Zombies are headed to our Patch, and so is David Bowie in one of the best mullets ever witnessed on the big screen.

The Hollywood queens were here, the TV zombies are coming and you still have a chance to watch yourself on the big screen. Well, at least see your house there.

If your home is movie-set worthy, an Atlanta-based film crew wants to hear from you. The producers are searching for a Smyrna home for approximately eight days worth of shooting in late July and early August.

The home should have a front porch and interior rooms large enough to hold camera and lighting equipment. Compensation and temporary relocation if necessary will be negotiated with the production company. If you think you might have the perfect such home, send photos to davida@ninaholiday.com.

Meanwhile, a few months after Queen Latifah and one of the queens of country music, Dolly Parton, came to Smyrna to shoot a food fight scene for their movie, “Joyful Noise,’’ the cameras are set to be rolling again in our Patch next week.

Monday to be precise as that’s when the AMC television series “The Walking Dead’’ will be filming scenes in the Cumberland Mall area. Several roads will be closed from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. that day including Cobb Galleria Parkway from Akers Mill Road to Cumberland Boulevard; Riverwood Parkway from Cobb Galleria Parkway to Cobb Parkway; and at Cobb Parkway and Riverwood Parkway.

Commuters will be informed of closures and detours by message boards that will be set up on Cobb Galleria Parkway.

The show, which centers on a sheriff who awakes from a coma only to find himself alone in a world engulfed by a zombie epidemic, has been shooting scenes for its second season in the metro Atlanta area.

In addition to traffic issues, residents and workers in the Cumberland area can expect plenty of zombies and simulated gunfire on Monday.

And if all this talk of movies and sci-fi creatures has you jazzed, then take note that tonight, the series will be featuring the 1986 fantasy Labyrinth. It airs in the Cobb Galleria Gardens, 2 Cobb Galleria Pkwy, tonight at dusk, around 8:30. The popcorn is free and so is the movie, which stars a mullet-adorned David Bowie and a young Jennifer Connelly and was directed by Muppet master Jim Henson.
