Chattahoochee River Readers' Staycation Destination

With more than 3.2 million visitors last year, the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area has lots of fans.

With summer around the corner, and Smyrna-Vinings Patch readers Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area.

Patty Wissinger, superintendent of the Chattahoochee River, said that 3.2 million people visited the national recreation area last year. Visitors came to relax or get a work out. The Chattahoochee River offers plenty of options for those looking for a close to home getaway. Paddle down the river in a kayak or a canoe. If you’re looking to relax on the river consider tubing or fishing.

You can enjoy the Chattahoochee for free on June 9 as part of Get Outdoors Day. Fans of the Chattahoochee who visit year-round can purchase a Chattahoochee River National Recreation Annual Pass for $25.
