Happy Birthday, Smyrna!
Thousands attended Smyrna's 139th birthday celebration despite the threat of bad weather on Saturday.
The threat of severe weather in metro Atlanta didn't stop thousands from celebrating Smyrna's 139th Birthday Saturday. The city posted weather updates to its Facebook page throughout the day before announcing that the party was still on.
The Village Green was packed with blankets, folding chairs and revelers who enjoyed the music of Brandon Perry Band and Banks and Shane as well as impromptu performances from Empire Allstars Cheerleading.
Kids enjoyed a juggling giant and got hugs from The Spooktacular Chase owl mascot.

The party overflowed into Smyrna's Market Village as well. held a Smyrnabration Wine Tasting in honor of the birthday. 's annual featured music, games and Hawaiian-themed drinks.
's cupcakes didn't last long, but the giant "cake" they made impressed party-goers all night. Attendance remained strong late into the party for the fireworks finale.
