It's Saturday Smyrna-Vinings Style

The weekend's here and there's plenty to do.

It’s looking to be a very mild Saturday with some sun and a forecast high near 60 degrees. What’s on your Saturday planner?

Several volunteer groups were dispersed throughout the Jonquil City this morning to help clean up neighborhoods coinciding with Keep Smyrna Beautiful’s Adopt-A-Mile program.

Smyrna Heights neighbors were seen cleaning up along Concord Road between South Cobb Drive and Atlanta Rd., while members of the Smyrna Rotary Club were gathering up trash along Windy Hill Road between Atlanta Rd. and Village Parkway.

The Smyrna Rotary Club had a lot of fun,'' said Rotarian Narayan Sengupta. "(We) ended the morning with eight mostly full garbage bags, a grocery cart, one football, and a carrying case for a CPR manequin. The nice thing about doing this in a group is getting to chat with your friends most of the way. In fact, you hardly notice that you're working. What is especially marvelous is that led by Ann Kirk and Virginia Davis, Keep Smyrna Beautiful routinely places in the top five such programs not only in the state of Georgia, but nationally. This means we have a lot to be proud of as Smyrna citizens. I'm glad that we get to participate in such a program to help our wonderful city."
