One shopper at Cumberland Mall was shocked when she learned of the verdict from a text message from her husband. Jessica Harrison has a 2-year-old son; the same age Caylee Anthony was when she died.
“Initially, I was shocked because I thought they would find compassion for the child and rule guilty,” Harrison told Patch. “The state did not prove enough evidence that she was guilty. It was all just circumstantial. I feel bad for the girl.’’
Paul Lottner, a father of three, heard about the verdict on the radio. Unlike Harrison, he was not alarmed by the jury’s decision.
“I was not surprised because I had read a long time ago that they didn’t have enough evidence against her,” he said. “I wasn’t surprised. Do I think she’s guilty? Yeah, but they couldn’t really prove it. It’s sad, especially for the baby.”
