Board: Mayor Did Not Violate Ethics Code

The  , determining that the allegations in the complaint don’t violate the city’s Code of Ethics.

In the complaint, , one allegation was that Mathews used his city-issued cell phone for personal business. Scott Cochran, an attorney advising the board, said that, while the city’s personnel policy prohibits employees from using city property for personal business, elected officials aren’t considered employees.

“A city supervisor can’t terminate an elected official,” Cochran said. “They can’t lose that position through a disciplinary procedure.”

Missing Cherokee Man Found Safe

John Carson Bryant, the Cherokee man with Alzheimer's who had not been seen since Thursday, has been found safe, the spokesman for the  said this afternoon.

Bryant's son spotted his father’s truck parked at the  on Highway 92 and Interstate 75 in Acworth at about 1 p.m. today, Lt. Jay Baker said.

Bryant, 76, of Acworth, was inside eating lunch.

Armed Robberies Reported in Buckhead

Two armed robberies recently occurred in Buckhead, according to reports released by the Atlanta Police Department.

One victim told police that while walking on the sidewalk at 2399 Parkland Dr. NE on July 21, three males drove up in a black mini-van and robbed him at gunpoint of his iPhone and wallet, which contained credit cards, a debit card and $60 cash.

Dallas Tot to Appear on ‘Toddlers and Tiaras’

Before she reaches her third birthday, Bella Noelle Winkowski will have a TV credit to her name.

The 2-year-old from Dallas will be featured on the latest episode of the TLC Network’s Toddlers & Tiaras. The episode, titled Out of this World Pageant,” will premiere at 9 p.m. and re-air at 11 p.m. Additional re-airings are scheduled for 8 p.m. Aug. 1 and 1 a.m. Aug. 2.

The Toddlers & Tiaras website describes the episode like this: “Feisty Bella, 2, cutie Ava Lane, 3, and reserved Jayla, 7 hope their stars align at the Out of this World Pageant in Darien, Georgia.”
