Silver Comet Trail Bridge Repair Begins This Month

The bridge projects are a precursor to a complete re-paving of the entire trail later on this year.

You will only have two more weekends to enjoy some parts of the Silver Comet Trail before bridges are closed for maintenance work.

According to Cobb County, five pedestrian bridges are being closed between Jan. 20 and April 25 to allow for maintenance and repair of the ends of the structures.

The first bridge to be closed will be the Cooper Lake Bridge, from mile marker 0 to 1.2. This closure will last from Jan. 20 to Feb. 16.

The Olley Creek Bridge, between mile markers 6.3 and 7.3 will be closed between Feb. 10 and Feb. 21.

The complete list and schedule of bridge closures may be found here, or on the map attached to this article.

As Patch reported in November, once the bridges are closed there will be no detours through or around them.Β

The bridge repairs will give way to a complete resurfacing of the trail later in the spring.
