Smyrna and Cobb-Area Weather Closings

As we have already reported, both the Cobb County School District and the International Academy of Smyrna are closing two hours early today because of dangerously cold weather. Below, we will keep a running tally of closures and postponements as we get them:

  • Union Diamond will be closed on Wednesday, according to their Twitter
  • From the Smyrna Library: "To ensure the safety of our programs we will not be having any programs tomorrow (Wednesday). This includes Moves and Shakers."
  • The International Academy of Smyrna will be closed on Wednesday, Jan. 29.
  • The Cobb Board of Commissioners work session and meeting scheduled for 2 and 7 p.m. respectively have been called off due to inclement weather.
  • The Georgia Department of Labor's Cobb-Cherokee Career Center will close at noon on Tuesday and will re-open when weather conditions permit. UPDATE: ALL Georgia Department of Labor offices will close at 1 p.m. and re-open at 10 a.m. Wendesday weather permitting.
  • The City of Smyrna's administrative office plans to stay open through the current cold weather, city spokeswoman Jennifer Bennett tells Patch. UPDATE: City spokeswoman Jennifer Bennett has told patch that the City of Smyrna administrative offices are closing immediately.
  • All campuses of Chattahoochee Technical College closed at noon Tuesday.
  • The Chick-fil-A on South Cobb Drive in Smyrna will close at 2 p.m. Tuesday, according to the restaurant's Facebook Page.

Yeah well, they can't predict the weather 6 hours in advance, but they're 100% certain of global warming and it's impact a century from now.
