Smyrna Auxiliary to Distribute Poppies for Veterans

Support your local veterans by participating in the Distribution of Poppies and the 2013 Smyrna Memorial Day Ceremony.

This Memorial Day weekend, help support local veterans and their families by participating in the Distribution of Poppies organized by the Auxiliary of Smyrna's American Legion Post 160 and the Memorial Day Ceremony held by the City of Smyrna.

The Memorial Day Ceremony will kick off at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, May 27 at the 20th Century Veterans Memorial located at 800 King Street in downtown Smyrna. Following the ceremony, there will also be a barbecue cook-out open to the public held at the Post 160 office located at 160 Legion Drive.

This Saturday, Sunday and also at the Memorial Day Ceremony, members of the Auxiliary at the American Legion Post 160 will be distributing poppies at the following locations:

  • 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Saturday, May 25 & Sunday, May 26
    • Kroger at Concord and South Cobb Drive
    • Kroger on Atlanta Road
    • Walmart at the East-West Connector
  • 9:30 a.m., Monday, May 27
    • Smyrna Veterans Memorial located at 800 King Street

"[People] can get involved and participate, even if they are not a member, in helping us with any project we do to raise funds or supplies or assist veterans in any way," said Marilyn Roy with the Auxiliary. "We distribute poppies on both Memorial weekend and Veterans weekend to raise contributions for veterans and their families."
