Smyrna Woman Hits the Jackpot

She was on her lunch break at Publix.

Angelia Salas of Smyrna was on her lunch break at a Sandy Springs Publix Super Market when she purchased a $550,000 Grand Money instant game ticket.

“I scratched it in the store,” Salas said in a Georgia Lottery Corp. news release. “I said, ‘Oh my gosh! Am I seeing this right? Is this real?’ ”

Salas' vision was fine.

She handed the ticket to her supervisor, who confirmed her winnings.

“I feel like the whole world has been lifted off of me,” she said.

Salas, 50, said she plans to put her winnings to good use.

She intends to pay off her car note, her father’s car note and her father’s mortgage.
