Smyrna-Vinings Road Work, Aug. 5-9

Here are the latest updates on road work being done around Smyrna-Vinings, District 2 and Cobb County during the week of Aug. 5-9, according to the Cobb Department of Transportation.

Concord Road Construction 

South Cobb Drive to Atlanta Road: Expect intermittent lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday with one lane remaining open in each direction at all times.  The Evelyn Street intersection with Concord Road has been permanently closed.

Road Resurfacing

Asphalt paving operations are scheduled for this week Monday through Friday on the following roads. One lane will be open at all times, but expect delays.

• Night Work: Terrell Mill Road from Cobb Parkway (US41) to Powers Ferry Road.
• Night Work: Windy Ridge Parkway Ext. from Windy Ridge Parkway to Windy Hill Road

Paper Mill Road Bridge

Paper Mill Road Bridge at Sope Creek is closed through Oct. 25. The new bridge will include a six foot sidewalk on the south side, providing access to National Park Service trails. A signed detour route will be provided during construction.

Lower Roswell Road Construction

As Cobb County schools begin classes on Aug. 7, expect extended delays on Lower Roswell Road (detour route) associated with school traffic. Plan for alternate routes during these hours.

Willow Point Parkway to Timber Ridge Road
Expect periodic lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday between Willow Point Parkway and Timber Ridge Road with one lane remaining open.

Little Willeo Road Sidewalks Construction

Karls Gate Drive to Lake Fjord Pass: Expect intermittent lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday with one lane remaining open.
