St. Francis Feast Day Pet Blessing on Sunday

Bring your pets and share a service of blessing at St. Benedict's Episcopal Church in Smyrna.

Sometimes beloved pets can feel like members of the family, and inviteses all animal lovers and their “children” to the St. Francis of Assisi Feast Day Pet Blessing on Sunday.

A beacon of light in the dark ages of the medieval era, St. Francis is one of the most highly esteemed saints of the Christian Church. The Italian churchman is remembered for many reasons, one of them being his profound love for the natural world.

St. Benedict’s cites St. Francis’ love and care of animals as the reason they choose to celebrate the blessing of animals on his feast day. Bring your pets and share a service of blessing at 4 p.m. as St. Benedict’s “remembers both St. Francis as well as our own love for all of God’s creatures.”
