VBA Celebrates Octoberfest

Members of the Vinings Business Association gathered at the Meyring Law Firm this week. The next VBA event is set for Nov. 1 at Social Vinings.

The Vinings Business Association’s monthly After Hours event was held this week as the Meyring Law Firm hosted an open house Octoberfest event.

Robert Meyring, whose office is located at 2931 Paces Ferry Road next to, was responsible for the 2008 reestablishment of the nonprofit Vinings Business Association (VBA); and served as its president in 2008-2009. He is the organization’s pro bono legal counsel and a current board member.

Carlton Reed is the scheduled featured speaker as he will deliver an "Inspiring Yourself and Staying Inspired" presentation. And it’s not too early to start thinking about your nomination for the "VBA 2011 Business of the Year." Deadline for nominations is Nov. 5.

At VBA events, you can expect to meet business leaders from the Vinings community who are helping shape the area’s future. One of those is Meyring, who is a big booster of the Vinings Village, where he lives and practices law.

He participates in the Vinings Civic Club and earlier this year, he and attorney Lisa Davis founded the Vinings Bar, LLC, a nonprofit providing required educational programs for local attorney certifications.

His firm was the first corporate sponsor of the Vinings Historic Preservation Society and is a longtime member.

In addition, Meyring does pro bono work at the Fulton County Courthouse Probate Information Center (PIC) organized under the Atlanta Bar; and participates in the Atlanta Bar's Law Referral Information Service (LRIS) in which some reduced or "modest means" fee schedule is provided to people of modest means. 

He also visits elderly clients who are home bound without charging them. And for the last four years, he has given a “Free 10-Minutes Phone Conversation” to anyone with legal questions and has given many hours of free legal advice to hundreds of people.
