UPDATE: WellStar Health Park Coming to Smyrna-Vinings Area
The new wellness center will be operational in late 2015 or early 2016.
UPDATE (3:30 p.m.): WellStar has provided Patch with a rendering of the new Smyrna-Vinings Health Park, and has informed Patch that it will be located at 4441 Atlanta Rd.
ORIGINAL STORY: Residents of Smyrna and Vinings will soon have a new option for outpatient services that will be closer to work and home.
WellStar announced on Wednesday that its third "health park," an outpatient facility that will combine diagnostic facilities, physical therapy, cardiac rehabilitation, a pharmacy, and other wellness opportunities, will be built in the Smyrna-Vinings area in late 2015 or early 2016.
Joe Brywczynski, a senior vice president with WellStar, told Georgia Health News that the cost of the new facility should be in the same $73 million neighborhood as a similar health park that was built in East Cobb.
A suburban health park allows patients to maintain and improve their health and lifestyles without having to drive a long way to get to a main hospital campus.
The first health park was built in Acworth in 2012, and drew over 110,000 people in its first year of operations, Brywczynski said.
