Smyrna catches the theatre bug

Epidemic Theatre brings fresh ideas to the stage.

Epidemic Theatre, Smyrna’s newest theatre company, is ready to win hearts in the city. And with creative productions that both entertain and engage the community Smyrnans are sure to catch the bug.

This not-for-profit theatre company is putting fresh, creative ideas on the stage and has branded itself as “a new kind of theatre.” Its holiday fundraising production “Every Christmas Story Ever Told” features three actors who will sing, dance and involve the audience in light-hearted takes on holiday traditions from around the world and popular culture. The Friday, Dec. 9 show at the Smyrna Community Center begins at 7:30 pm. The Saturday, Dec. 10 performance at Rev Coffee begins at 8 p.m. Ticket prices vary from $8 to $10 depending on seating preference and can be purchased online.

“Improve 10K” is Epidemic Theatre’s “walk-a-thon style improv fundraising event.” Participants sign up to perform on the theatre’s website and then start fundraising. For every $10 the performers earn for Epidemic Theatre they earn 60 seconds on stage with the goal being to stay on stage as long as possible and get the most laughs from the audience. Prizes will be given to the most entertaining performer. Interested participants can sign up on the website. The date of event will be posted soon.
