Grab the Spandex, 'Iron Mullet' is Back in Town

Check out the best places to get your groove on in Smyrna-Vinings this weekend.

Spring is officially here and Smryna-Vinings is back in full swing with a flurry of great local spots for relaxing on the patio, sipping on a cold one, or shakin’ a leg on the dance floor. Whatever it is you like, we’ll try to shine the spotlight on it here with a weekly peek at who’s jamming where each weekend.

First up is , Spring Road’s cool neighborhood coffee shop that dishes up more than coffee and pastries. Rev is known for innovative out-of-the-box thinking, bringing in up-and-coming local talent to showcase their original music. Friday, gospel acoustic guitarist Lady Toni will be featured playing her latest collection of songs.

“I’ve been coming to these [showcases] for a few months now and really enjoy them,” said Smyrna native and Rev regular Benjamin Maynard.

is sure to kick up dust this weekend beginning tonight with Timothy O’Donovan belting out rock covers from the 70s and 80s. Davin McCoy on Friday and Ty Reynolds on Saturday will both blend in originals with covers from the 80s and 90s. The music gets going at 10:30 each night.

Jeff Hix with his classic Southern appeal and twang plays at the on Friday and Saturday. Get there early for the 9 p.m. shows because seating fills up fast in the quaint upstairs venue. Or go be social at , where good times are created every day. Mix it up with Cooper Tisdale tonight at 7, the Nathan Morgan Trio on Friday at 8:30; and Brian Cameron and Friends on Saturday at 8:30.

Just a stone’s throw away you can visit , where you might catch a cool breeze on the patio while listening to John Amoroso on Friday and Randal & Company on Saturday.

Also, is sure to put a smile on your face with their creative libations. Catch Jason Fulton on the patio tonight and Saturday, while Nelson Brownstone does his thing on Friday evening. If the weekend passed you by without getting a chance to let your hair down once, stop by Sunday at 7 p.m. to hear the smooth jazzy sounds of Mick Wheeler.

on Saturday will sure to be rocking as local favorite 80s tribute band Iron Mullet takes the stage at 10 p.m.

“It’s a lot of fun, people come dress up as eighties rockers to party with the band,” said Amy, Bella’s daytime manager. Founded by Craig and Jenny Aaron, Iron Mullet began as a cool idea that has grown to have a fun loving following of fans across metro Atlanta.

Finally, is hosting the Cosmic Gypsies, another 80s musically inspired band with a loyal following of fans. And beginning April 16, Red's Timbers begins hosting its very own 'Karaoke Idol' running for ten weeks with a $500 first place prize.
