Movie Sequence Filmed in Cumberland Area
Hollywood has brought its talents to Windy Ridge Parkway, shooting a sequence for a star-studded film earlier in the week.
Traffic along Windy Ridge Road between Parkwood Circle and Circle 75 Parkway was inundated with police on Tuesday night, and a Smyrna-Vinings Patch Twitter user wanted to know why.
We heard about a heavy police presence and a helicopter in the area from 8:30 to 11 p.m., so we sent an e-mail to Cobb Police spokesman Sgt. Dana Pierce to find out what was going on.
Sgt. Pierce told us on Thursday that there was in fact a movie sequence being shot along that particular stretch of road. He even knew which movie it was!
"Barely Lethal," scheduled for release next year, stars such Hollywood power players as Jessica Alba, Samuel L. Jackson, and Steve-O from the popular "Jackass" franchise.
The story revolves around a 16-year-old assassin who fakes her own death to live out a "normal" existence at a high school in the suburbs, but discovers that high school life is anything but normal.
So, if you go to the movies next year and see some areas that you recognize on the silver screen, your eyes won't be deceiving you!
