Protest Against Pro-Gun Policies Held in Smyrna-Vinings

Members of the newly formed Georgia Gun Sense Coalition held a protest this afternoon against the policies of pro-gun group Georgia Carry.Org near Renaissance Waverly Hotel on Cobb Parkway in the Smyrna-Vinings area.

Protesters say they are "advocating for common sense policies regarding firearms" before Georgia Carry.Org, a pro-gun group, hold its annual conference at the hotel this weekend.

Georgia Carry.Org says its mission includes being “Georgia’s no compromise voice for gun owners”. The group plays a key role in an attempt to bring back a bill that would have allowed concealed firearms in churches, bars, schools and on college campuses, according to Georgia Gun Sense Coalition.

Members of the Coalition say they do believe in The Second Amendment and the right to carry concealed weapons.

"Even some of most conservatives would agree with us that these weapons should not be in places like our schools and churches," said Melinda Ennis with the Georgia Gun Sense Coalition during the protest.
