East/West rename to Silver Comet Parkway
According to SmyrnaVinings.org: http://www.smyrnavinings.com/2013/07/silver-comet-parkway/
Ron Fennel, who is Ward 7 councilman of Smyrna, has authored a resolution to rename the East-West Connector to Silver Comet Parkway. It has already passed in Smyrna and is therefore in the hands of Cobb committee members. Lisa Cupid from Cobb County is gauging support and there is a meeting scheduled on July 18 at 7:00PM at Presbyterian Village, 2000 East-West Connector
Please attend the meeting.

I'm personally for, because I think it's a much more interesting and unique name, kind of pretty, and also will help accentuate the greatest gem of the area around the road: The Silver Comet Trail. It helps foster the sense of place and identity for those along the trail. I think it will encourage bike and pedestrian-friendly development since developers and investors will be reminded constantly by the road name of what originally brought so many people here in the first place.
Additionally, we should realize that East-West was never meant to be a permanent name. It was just the temporary name given to it while under design and construction.
