Cobb Chamber Hosts Free Business Expo Today

The Cobb Chamber of Commerce this afternoon hosts what it touts as the area's premier business-to-business exposition in metro Atlanta. This annual event will promote more than 150 area companies, allowing them to showcase their products and services to almost 1,000 attendees.

Open to the public, this event provides a great opportunity for networking, idea sharing, product introduction and service solutions and attracts executives at every level. And it's free. The event will run from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Cobb Galleria. For information, visit www.cobbchamber.org/businessexpo.

The Cobb County Board of Education has its regular monthly meeting tonight at 7 at the Central Office on Glover Street in Marietta. The board will start by convening at 5:30 p.m. and going immediately into executive session to keep talking about such personnel issues as hiring a superintendent. The board could decide tonight whether to raise property taxes to balance the fiscal 2012 budget and Smyrna-Vinings Patch will provided a full preview later today.

You may have heard that . Well, it turns out that the latest budget cuts have left the county Department of Transportation with no money for "nonessential" aesthetic matters, including mowing medians. So the county DOT and Keep Cobb Beautiful are looking for some good volunteers to Adopt-a-Median for mowing, picking up litter and generally taking responsibility for making a median or right of way look neat and clean. It's going to be a beautiful day, so if you enjoy working in the great outdoors ...
